События последних недель ещё раз показали мне с поразительной силой, как всё связано и переплетено вокруг?Ещё за несколько недель до Labor day (первый понедельник к сентябре), мы стали планировать высвободить меня from my current responsibilities at Connecticut. And we started to work on this with Sam. The number of difficulties we have uncounted was high. It was difficult to get all the approval to introduce a new person. It was difficult to initiate transfer the knowledge on top of regular job responsibilities. But all these difficulties стали разрешаться one-by-one. И в какой-то момент мне стало ясно, что да, мы можем всерьёз думать about the transition.
Лира позвонила мне 13 сентября и сказала, что Home Shopping Network (HSN) прeдлагает все 5 levels of Rosetta Stone language course for an amazing $180. Usually the price is $500 and the lowest we saw at Target was $280. We got it. A few minutes before midnight. Lira ordered French, and I ordered Spanish (Latin America). and on September 18 I already installed Spanish and French on two laptop. Я начал заниматься Испанским, и продвинулся почти на целый уровень.
В четверг 24 сентября в 09:28 утра я узнал, что я еду на 2 недели во Францию. И Лира хочет ехать со мной. И чтобы ей ехать, ей нужно будет пропустить a week of Production support and Annual 10K Run on Columbus day. But she will make all the arrangements for that. And I started to study French right away.
Over the weekend, I badly injured my ankle. So bad that I had to stop playing and I was on crutches next two days. Imagine my Monday morning! I could not walk, my throat sore, my current work load was not showing any signs of diminishing, and I have to complete transition and start a whole new project in a week. Wow!
After the meeting with our new client in France on Monday morning (September 28) both Lira and I bought tickets to Paris, but on different flights. The wheels were in motion. This is actually happening. It would be my first international engagement.
And now, when my 3-week French project is rolling to a conclusion (at least its initial stage), I still did not lost interest in gaining some level of fluidity in French. It feels very debilitating to be in office and only able to communicate to a subset of people who speaks English or through an interpreter.
